Practical, brain-based workshops that make sense of behaviour, emotions and learning. For parents, teachers, schools and professionals.

The Missing Link

At last, a workshop that makes sense of behaviour, emotions and learning.

Have you ever wondered why some children struggle to focus, manage emotions, cope with anxiety or keep up with learning, even when they’re trying their best?

What if behaviour isn’t the problem, but a clue?

This practical Parent & Teacher Workshop shows you the hidden connections between the brain, body, emotions, nervous system and learning. You’ll leave with a new understanding of:

What you’ll get:

  • Why behaviour happens
  • How stress and anxiety affect learning
  • Why some children struggle to regulate
  • The role of the nervous system in the classroom and at home
  • Practical strategies to help children thrive

I created The Missing Link because every group I’ve presented it to has said they wished they’d been taught this at teacher training college. Everything changes when we understand how growing brains work: teaching becomes easier, behaviour makes more sense, and learning can finally flow.

Taming the Classroom Zoo

Practical regulation strategies for teachers and learners

“Behind every behaviour is a nervous system trying to feel safe.”

In this practical workshop, educators learn to recognise each “animal state”, understand what it’s communicating, and respond in ways that help learners return to a calm, connected state where learning can happen.

Why every teacher should do this workshop: behaviour is communication. You’ll learn to:

  • See the child behind the behaviour
  • Recognise different nervous-system states
  • Respond with understanding rather than judgement
  • Know what each “animal” needs
  • Help children find their way back to safe
  • Understand that we all have our own animals

The goal isn’t to tame the child. It’s to understand the animal.

Befriending Your Nervous System

Map it. Understand it. Regulate it.

Many of the struggles we see in behaviour, learning and connection can be traced back to chronic stress and nervous system dysregulation.

In this practical 2-hour workshop, you’ll be introduced to “mapping the nervous system”: a simple, accessible way of understanding the different states our nervous systems move through, inspired by the work of Deb Dana and Polyvagal Theory.

You’ll learn to recognise the signs of fight, flight, freeze, shutdown and regulation, understand what may be happening beneath challenging behaviour, and explore practical ways to help children, and yourself, move towards greater safety, connection and regulation.

Because behaviour is communication, and it makes a lot more sense when you know how to read the nervous system behind it.

Behind the Labels

Looking beyond “lazy”, “unfocused” and “unmotivated”

Is your child labelled as lazy, unfocused or unmotivated? It might not be a motivation problem. It could be a developmental one.

When primitive reflexes remain active, the brain stays busy with survival tasks instead of learning tasks. The body works harder just to sit still, hold a pencil or stay focused.

Integrating these reflexes frees up energy for thinking, learning and problem solving, and supports:

  • Focus and attention
  • Mental stamina
  • Confidence in learning

This is what happens when we look behind the label and support the brain from the bottom up.

Gravitational Security

The hidden foundation for learning

“A child can’t focus, read or regulate if their body doesn’t feel safe in space.”

Gravitational security, our body’s deep sense of safety in movement and stillness, is the hidden foundation for balance, posture, attention and confidence in learning.

When we think of learning struggles, we usually think of attention, effort or motivation. But what if a child’s biggest challenge isn’t in the mind, but in the body’s relationship with gravity?

When we support a child’s body, we support their brain. When we build stability, we build confidence. When we help them feel grounded, we help them learn.
